Country legends Brooks & Dunn will perform at the pre-game show along with Chubby Checker, Kool & The Gang and Michael McDonald. Seven-time Daytona 500 winner Richard Petty will serve as the honorary starter as the Thunderbirds fly over head. And to celebrate this special occasion, 1960 Daytona 500 chmapion Junior Johnson will drive the Chorvette Z06 pace car. It's like the Olympics for rednecks. Mad craziness.

Letters From Iwo Jima

The Star Telegram noted Letters From Iwo Jima as a must watch for tonight.

Letters From Iwo Jima: Clint Eastwood's acclaimed but slow-moving film, which showed the battle of Iwo Jima from the Japanese point of view (companion piece Flags of Our Fathers showed the American side), gets its basic-cable debut. Eastwood will do the introduction to the movie, which will be presented commercial-free and in Japanese with English subtitles. 7 p.m., AMC Source

Letters from Iwo Jima tells the untold story of the Japanese soldiers who defended their homeland against invading American forces during World War II. With little defense other than sheer will and the volcanic rock of Iwo Jima itself, the unprecedented tactics of General Tadamichi Kuribayashi and his men transform what was predicted to be a swift defeat into nearly 40 days of heroic and resourceful combat.

Spudd Web is Awesome

Watching the All Star Game?

Don't forget about the classic stars like Spud Webb.

IGN rated him as having one of the top 10 slam dunks ever!
Spud Webb, Off the Floor Reverse Strawberry Jam, 1986

Younger fans may think that Nate Robinson was the first little guy to throw it down in the dunk contest, but Spud was the original. Webb came back to help Robinson win in 2006, but honestly, Webb's dunks blew the Knicks point away. The bounce-off-the-floor dunk wasn't an expected part of dunk contests at the time, but Webb's second perfect dunk in a row in the finals, 150 out of 150, propelled him to the title.

On Golden Pond

On Golden Pond was shown on TCM tonight.

The description:
For Norman and Ethel Thayer, this summer On Golden Pond is filled with conflict and resolution. When their daughter Chelsea arrives, the family is forced to renew the bonds of love and overcome the generational friction that has existed for years. Norman must find his way through his anger and fear of growing old, while Chelsea struggles to rebuild their relationship. Ethel's consistent support of her "knight in shining armor" is inspirational in its simplicity. This is a movie to ponder and always keep in your heart.
